Description of Tool:
CommunityWalk is a tool that allows you to create custom maps. In addition to creating maps, users can create paths to trace historical movement, add pictures and video to supplement points on the map, and publish their maps for the world to see.
How does tool apply to your curricular area?
Students would be able to trace historical movement such as immigration patterns, Sherman's March to the Sea, and Booth's escape from Ford's Theater. By adding video and pictures to these paths, students can further understand the material presented.
Where does tool fit in Digital Blooms and why?
This tool can fit into the creating aspect of Digital Blooms. Students use information that they have already learned and studied in order to create a meaningful product with the data. The creation of the map allows students to activate prior knowledge and show what they know to others.
